Like the similar thread about history books I made in the Ye Olde Tavern Stickies, this one is intended for sharing books we bought, and maybe questions are opinions about them. All books that are not on history per se, but on other Social Sciences, like Psychology, Sociology, Politology, etc, would be fitting here.
I tend to buy psychology and educational psychology textbooks from different levels and by different authors, so I read as many opinions on one issue as I can - I substitute a lot in classrooms with kids with special needs, and in most times no one gives my any info about the history of the kids, nor how to deal with them; so I'm on my own, and have to be able to recognize very fast what the situation with the kid/s is, in order to be able to get then to work with me.
So, I found those in one of my favorite thrift-stores last Saturday: "Essential Psychopathology and It's Treatments" by Jerold Maxmen, Nicholas Ward, 1995 "Cognitive Therapy and the Emotional Disorders" by Aaron Beck, MD, 1976 "Cognitive Psychology" by Michael Wessells, 1982 "Skinner for the Classroom - Selected Papers" 1982 "Current Psychotherapies" by Raymond Corsini and Danny Wedding, 1989 "Cognition - Exploring the Science of the Mind" by Daniel Reisberg, 2001 "Abnormal Psychology - Current Perspective" by Richard Bootzin, etc, 1993
Some textbooks I got the last week: Psychology and related: "A Review of Anatomical Neurology", 1976 "Psychiatric Nursing", 1992 - it has a very detailed chapters on how to respond to different mental disorders, so I figure, it would give me ideas as to hos to respond with kids with such I work in the Special Education schoolrooms. "Neurological Rehabilitation", 2001 'Psychophysiology", 1994 "Gestals Therapy - Excitement and Growth in the Human Personality" by Frederick Perls, etc, 1951
Education and related to it areas: "Diagnosis in Speech-Language Pathology, 1983 "Assessment and Remediation of Articulatory and Phonological Disorders, 1985 "Foundation of American Education", 2007
