Based on what my grandma told me, i think i've found the war records of my great grandfather. According to this website he joined up in 1916. I knew he was at the Somme but wasn't sent to the front because he could drive. However, i didn't know he was in the Royal Field Artillery

What site did you use?  I've been researching my step- grandfather.  He served in the 1st MEF and was at Belleu wood.  But I haven't found anything yet.

I still don't know much about what my other great-grandfathers did in the war, however. One didn't enlist because he was still a boy in 1918, but the other two were in the Austrian army

For Americans check US Cenus records of 1930. Iirc... these included identification as a service member.
