It is  confusing going through through possible reasons and who or what should be pointed at with the finger. Germans finished paying the last fines just recently.

The German Keiser prior to the war was noted saying that the Balkan Region is so unstable that a small outbreak in one location there may be the cause of an all out european war. He said it, I think in 1913, way before the war begun. Funnily enough that was what really happened. The murder of the habsburg prince looks like possible conspiracy scenario. In the second world war, Hitler's ultimate plans were clear;lebensraum. The motives that led to the first world war are foggy.

Confusing? perhaps. Complex? Absolutely. Can it be solved? Certainly. And research continues to lead the way in that regards. The question is whether or not the prospective researcher is willing to accept the norm academic version or continue the investigation into not only primary and secondary causes but ancillary motivation as well. That is the purpose of the method.
