Just an idea, isn't it time that the Nation State was removed.  After we are all one species, shouldn't we be one world.  Think of the advantages.  No need for each state to spend billions on an army, if we are all one state who is there to fight.  Also useful when you consider that nearly all wars have been fought between states.  It would also help with poverty and enviromental problems.  If we are all one state there is no worry about one country not being able to afford food, or fuel, who is there to buy it off.  Only ourselves.  If we remove the Nation state and make us one whole world I would think there is a big advantage for everyone.

Local sovereignity, tribalism and nationalism are part of our DNA as humans.  Trying to out law nation states will be as successful as outlawing crime or outlawing  war.

Traditional nation states give stability to the planet. If nation states are removed, people are going to form new groups.  This could lead to chaos and more conflict. For example, nation states collapsed in some parts of Africa and were replaced by feuding war lords and a "check point" culture.

Time to kick 1648 out then is it?

Roll on the mega-corporations.

As Thatcher said, there is no society, we are just individuals.

When you use "1648" are you refering to "Fairfax", or to a particular number?

Isn't it time that we as a species realised that we are all one race, not different races.  Time to remove the concept of countries totally.  Until we do there will remain the global problems of poverty and enviromental meltdown.  All of which could be easily fixed if there were no nations.  Ther would be no need for someone in africa to starve whilst the food they need rots in another country.  As the whole world would be one country that food could be moved to where it was needed.  Same with technology, it could be sent where it was needed without problems of borders, and whether the target country could afford it.

As a speicies if we are to survive we need to get away from the tribal mindset and become a more world based society.  It is time that we understood that we are all symbiotically connected.

By what definition do each of you use to define "Nation States?" Do you really mean "any soverign Nation?"
