But in Sudan pyramids were still being built in up to 300 AD . In China they began buildin pyramide like earthworks from about 200BC and continued until about 5.century AD. Then we also have roman pyramids specially the pyramid of Cestius which like above mentioned pyramids was used as a tomb.
Then we have a temple like pyramids like those in American continent built by pre-Columbian mesoamerican cultures or those in India and Indonesia.
My questions are:
1. How come there is a similar shape of pyramids throughout the world, when we know that f.x. mesoamerican cultures didn't have any known contact the rest of the civilisations?
2. Why didn't pyramid building culture continued building pyramids throughout the world?

In regards your questions-
1. Well first, we don't know that there wasn't contact. This is being more hotly debated, especially with the results of the "Plant Genome Project". But to the question directly, the pryamid form was the only safe way they knew of to build tall. If you wanted to get as close to "god" as possible then you had to go up, to go up etc. Regardless of use or location, it became known that the pyramid shape would support as much hieght as they could support logistically and financially.
And remembering that you must expand the pyramids base in proportion with it's height, the available flat land.
BTW There is an unexcavated pyramid in Peru that has a base of 2 miles.
2. Considering that pryamid forms have been constructed since about 8,000 bce, and the last known pyramids were constructed in about 1200ad, I'd say they had a pretty good run at it don't you think? Also, there wasn't any one "pyramid culture".
