Ok, I think we can start assigning mod positions now. I want to keep everyone interested, and AE needs a staff body, but I don't want to necessarily stratify a hierarchy within the members. Of course, member, moderator, administrator, we're still part of the same family. (as Cyrus said)

One thing i'm considering is instead of having specific moderators, we have three moderator groups, one for each forum category (general history, area/time, and general forums). What do you think?

So for example,

A, B, C are mods for all the forums, under General World History,
D, E, F, are mods for all the forums under History by topics, etc...

I'd like to have my post in the area/time section, if we decide to switch to this moderational grouping sytem.

I would consider it a very good idea especially in the case that one of us goes missing, there will still be many others to keep a watchful eye on all boards in the category.

I dont know.  The moderators that were previously picked, were picked over a long period observation to which they visited and posted in frequently. Also a degree of knowledge was taken into effect. With the current board arrangement, that would be completely scrapped.

Either way is good with me. Both have pluses. You probably wouldn't require the same number of mods if you went with the new idea.

True that. On the other hand it would be difficult for Mods to keep up. Especially when the forum takes off (soon I hope :-)

I think I'll go for specialization, better to have different Mods for different threads.

Hmm, I would like to pick the Area/Time one...

Btw, will we have "Global Moderators"?

I think I'd go for specialization. Moderators that completely understand issues are more useful than mods that don't (as I learnt on the Asian board )

I don't know if we should have Global Mods. It didn't really add a lot, IMO. I didn't do much with that position anyway, although there were others who did, of course. But aren't two or three admins enough?

Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to have very many moderators. At the current rate, if we assign one for each forum, it would numerate to about 20.

With all due respect to everyone, if we keep having too many positions, it will titulize the position of moderator into more of a "ticket into the mod forum".

I agree with that.

I don't think there's anyone who has much knowledge about all the time/area forums.

Off course we can make a poll and let everyone vote about the best option.

True. Moderators ought to be chosen after they've shown they are mature to do the job, and never break the rules the mods are there to uphold, like using names, provoce, spam etc. I suggest firstly choose old mods (TJK, Jalisco, Dawn, Cornellia et al, did an excellent job) from AE and maybe give them several fora, and later, when other people have shown they're a good pick, assign new ones. There isn't very much use of mods now in the infant days anyway.
