Brazil is top ten Smile
Brazil GDP (purchasing power parity):$1.838 trillion (2007 est.)
Canada GDP (purchasing power parity):$1.274 trillion (2007 est.)

I can say that
"Whites" in Brazil are richerthan in Europe
"Blacks" in Brazil are richer than in Africa
"Indians" in Brazil are richer than in South America
And we have a wonderful "racial" mixture not found anywhere else !

Canada is the second country in area in the world. Brazil still is opening agricultural frontiers and we are still finding natural resources like oil, gas, uranium, metals

Canada has a dominated population of French settlers. They lost a war to the British and lost their "ethnic national state". Have you seen the movie Nouvelle France ? Sad destiny of a people to lose a war and a national destiny. There's no money on earth to compensate this in my opinion. Here in Brazil we defeated all invaders to keep and speak our Portuguese language.

Of course Brazil must improve a lot but Brazil is one of the biggest in the planet
We want to be big not be small. We are not immigrants but Bandeirantes ! We conquered half of South America and we are 20 times bigger than our Colonial Metropolis. Not bad, isn't it !

Sure. You are such a big country that a person from Northern Brazil is considered a foreigner in Southern Brazil :)

Indeed, Brazil want to be powerful. Hispanic Americans only want to improve economically and to make theirs people live better lifes. Different attitudes, indeed.

Let's hope Brazil get to be such a powerful country that Americans get concerned about. We'll se what happens then.

By the way, fellow Bandeirante,

Isn't the fusion between Tupi-Lusitanians in Brazil sort of equivalent to the idea of Criollo in Hispanic America? If so? Is not that the local version -in Portuguese- of the Cosmic Race idea?

I think the idea in Brazil is also related to the racial fusion, amlgama racial, miscigenao, but the "White", "Portuguese", element should dominate, prevail and be "enriched" first with Indian, Black and later European (North European) people to strength the "Brazilian Race" .
If you study the Brazilian "Elite" genealogies you will find in the Colonial times plenty of Indian blood, few Black blood and in the 19th and 20th centurt plenty of European Immigrants' blood. We call it "o processo de embranquecimento", but there's a common Portuguese platform because Brazilian mainstream politics had never the idea of separation or quistos of whatever social group or language but the Brazilian Portuguese as the main structure. That's because German, Italian and Japanese were nationalized in the Second World War, just like Tupi language was forbidden by Pombal (Minister) in the 18th century and Blacks were always mixed in different African groups and were mixed with Indian and White people to break any idea of a compact Black identity in Brazil.
The best racial idelogo in Brazil is Gilberto Freyre and the Portuguese Afonso de Albuquerque that defined a multiracial seaborne Portuguese Empire, Portuguese Man and native Women.

Hey, then Freyre is the equivalent of Vasconcelos in Brazil, isn't he?

Could you tell us more about him. It sounds interesting to me.

Freyre thought the society as a compound made by culture, affinities, representations, Tropical delights, sweeties, and the knot was sexual sociability, the Portuguese literally f... the exotic women to create a new social atmosphere. The Portuguese society in Brazil was used to be plastic, flexible, adaptative, racially tolerant as far as the hierarchies were kept and everybody would have fun just as the established kept the right direction, of course the outsider would be killed, tortured, expelled from this social "Paradise". A new society of conquerors and senhores de engenho, fazendeiros, bandeirantes escravocratas born to kill, integrate, create new culture and be giant and made with Indians, Africans and a reduced number of Whites, later expanded.
Crazy People of course wanting greatness
