12. The traditional SE Asian New Year is in April. It is still celebrated in Cambodia, Lao, Thailand and Burma. Traditionally SE Asians mounted road blocs stopped people and splashed water on them and gently put talcom powder on their faces. Then the Thais went berserk and discovered water guns, then water cannon, then icy cold water barrels. Nowadays for the duration of the festival gangs stand on street corner and pickup trucks full of water and cannon prowl the road, anyone is fair game In in Thailand 2007, 506 people were killed and 5,500 injured making it the most dangerous festival in the world. Most were killed by drunk drivers or motorcyclists knocked over in traffic by water cannon. Burma, Lao and Cambodia under Thai influence are quickly adopting water cannon.

8. Thailand was the first country on Earth to enter the Bronze-Age 3,600 bc, the site at Ban Chang has the oldest Bronze artifacts on Earth. Thai Bronze was superior in quality to the much later Mesopotamian Bronze and the Thais taught the Chinese how to make bronze.
I don't know the exact details but I remember I've read that this allegedly oldest Bronze Age site was disputed and more recent datings were suggested.

Thailand is infact the world's largest exporter of rice.

World rice supplies are expected to be tight in 2007, but despite this ample supplies in Thailand will allow it to widen its lead as the worlds largest exporter.

That's not true, Manhattan (or rather the entire New Netherlands) was traded for Suriname.

Malaysia's situation is complex. It's not clear-cut like the Apartheid system (where blacks can't walk in white areas and can't vote freely in elections). The Malaysian racial policy stems from the fact that, after independence, Malays, who mainly lives in rural areas, were the disadvantaged in society, compared to Indians and Chinese. Then successive UMNO governments put in laws giving ethnic Malays, as "natives" or "sons of the soil" preference in education, employment and so on. On the other hand, Malaysia has freedom of religion and freedom of speech (well, compared to, say, Vietnam...), and there's no major outbreak of racial conflicts. There's no racial segregation or overt hostility between ethnic Malays, Chinese or Indians.
Such a system is bound to have critics,  especially now that Malays is no longer the disadvantaged ethnic group they were 40 years ago, which is why you see so many people supporting Anwar now.
