Thats not true...according to the November ranking Armenia is ranked 42 above Austria...while Georgia is ranked 37 above Latvia and Iceland and Azerbaijan (45) is ranked above Estonia. http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/lastranking/gender=m/fullranking.html#confederation=27275&rank=163All them are probably better than Kazakhstan too...

Cyprus is geographically an Asian country. It is an extension of the Anatolian peninsula which is considered a part of Asia. Israel, Armenia and Azerbaijan are not part of geograhpic Europe. They are to the south of the Caucasus which is the Southern border of Europe. Kazakhstan has some territories to the West of the Ural mountain, Europe's eastern border, so technically it is partially European. Of course this is just the geographic definition of Europe. Some people would say Armenia, Cyprus and Israel are "culturally" European.

I even think these teams would have a bigger chance to play in WC while competing with Asian teams especially Georgia and Armenia with a big smiel of luck could have a chance there.

Resolvable for Iceland. I think nothing is in the way for the first participation of a Icelandic team at the WC-finals.

Nothing except Holland, Scotland and Norway and Macedonia is also not bad. I wish You good luck but it is one of tougher groups.

Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan are partly in Europe geographically. And Armenia, Israel and Cyprus are totally in Asia.

no, but very small parts of georgia and azerbaijan are beyond the caucasus = european. also, quite a lot of land of Kazakhstan is on european soil = beyond the Ural river. that qualifies them for europe. don't know about armenia and israel though...

i thought all meditteranean islands was well as Greece and italy belong to the African tectonical(?) plate, so Cyprus would actually be African rather than European or asian....

Actually and technically, they all are located in Europe if we assumed Europe borders geographically, which is how the FIFA allocates the countries. The only country in the European group that is 100% Asian is Israel. Is cyprus part of the European continent?
It looks like Turkey has a great chance to qualify with only Spain as the obstacle to South Africa

Grp 8 Italy, Bulgaria, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, Cyprus, Georgia, Montenegro
Not a bad group for Ireland - could have been alot worse. We should be challenging for second anyway, Cyprus, Georgia and Montenegro are all beatable. With a good manager we may even be able to take top spot...although Italy world champs... perhaps not.
