Greetings to all.

I have been given my essay topics and I am asked to write an essay of 1500 words about one of the following topics:

1. What were the principal reasons for the drive towards war in 1914? (ww1)

2. How convincing is the argument that the Second World War was primarily a "just war" fought against fascism?

3. In the aftermath of the war, was the Cold War an inevitable development?

I am probably writing about the first one therefore I would like to ask for any reference possible as well as a plan/layout on how to write the essay.

Thank you in advance.

Well, not that I want to do your homework for you, but I would start with a list of the major players before the war, and what their main actions were in the lead up to the conflict.  This isn't as complicated as it sounds, and breaks down the issues into (reasonably) defined areas.

As for references, you can't go wrong with John Keegan's The First World War.
