We all have read about the famous Blitzkrieg during WWII at one time or another. "An offensive operational-level military doctrine which involves an initial bombardment followed by the employment of mobile forces attacking with speed and surprise to prevent an enemy from implementing a coherent defense." wiki

I didn't know about the, 'attacking with SPEED' part untill last night when I saw History Channel International. Appears that the Nazis provided their soldiers with amphetamines! Commonly known as SPEED in the US. No wonder the Speedkrieg was so successful. This stimulant not only is prescribed by doctors as a weight loss medication but its also a stimulant that keeps people alert, awake, and focused. Not to mention a heightened state of...

But the Nazis weren't alone with this wonder drug. During WWII, US troops were given an estimated 200 million amphetamines to fight drowsiness and battle fatigue. The Japanese were also known to delve deep into the medicine cabinet.

It was even more common among US troops in Vietnam. And today the fighter pilots of all nations are issued with Amphetamines.

I have heard this before. Some anecdotes by Allied soldiers after D-Day stated that Germans squeeled uncontrollably when shot, shrieking like pigs, because they had so much speed in their system. From what I have heard, the use of amphetamines was more used in the later stages of the war when severe manpower shortages in the German military required soldiers to be at attention far longer.

It's been well known that the German troopers were completely high on drugs during Blitzkrieg so they could fight non-stop for days. French soldiers had red wine no wonder we lost

Actually the allies also dropped different types of drugs to the French resistance. My grand father told me that he had the green pill to sleep and the red pill to wake up and that hooking off was one of his worst experience (which means something considering he spent 6 months in the Gestapo jails and then went to concentration camps).

Well, US pilots today are also high on amphies. Remember the US pilot that mistakenly bombed some Canadians in Afghanistan? He later claimed that his perception was altered due to the routine "go-pills" (sic) that he had been issued with.

Never really heard much about this before.  I knew the americans had access to stuff like this.  Any statistics Seko?  You mentioned it happened more during the last year or two of the war.  It would be interesting to see the percentage during the 39'-43' period as well as the final two years.
