This is one of my posts in another site about Andes Music, that perhaps could interest you:
Andes music is syncretic. It has Amerindian and Spanish roots quite integrated. The sound of flutes and pan pipes are authentic and ancient. The sound of guitars and charango are from colonial times. There are Andes songs that are song in Quechua and Aymara (Native languages) but most is song in Spanish.
You must decide what kind of Andes style you preffer. If you would like to try Andes-Rock, you MUST hear
Los Jaivas,

Illapu or
Kollawara http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NL6uFnOP-ck Thus is from a more traditional folk group Inka Marka:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne9BHI4foCA If you look for authentic ancient Amerindian music of pre-Contact times, there are records of the different Natives peoples of South America available to enjoy. Their music sound "New age" or perhaps "Celtic" to western ears, and it is quite unknown by Europeans. For instance, look "Beatriz Pichi Malen" for authentic Mapuche music. The song that follows is in Mapuche language and speaks about the Pewen Mapu: the land of the monkey-puzzle trees.
