Tinariwen: Tuareg band from Mali, I saw them live a few years ago, they were amazing, just got the new album, they sing in French and Arabic IIRC.  The lead singer was a rebel chief fighting for Tuareg rights - a goal which was realised.

 
Here is a rather tame sample featuring Carlos Santana, they were much more animated when I saw them and louder.
 
 
There is a music festival in the desert of Mali every year. Looks pretty damn cool.

Great music Zagros.Thanx a lot.The lead singer of Tinariwen resembles you a lot though your hairstyle is different.

Have you ever listened to any of Ethiopique albums?

I noticed that a few of the songs are really similar.

I haven't actually.  I only came across Tinariwen because they were support to a show which featured Rachid Taha.
