On a more serious note, he looks to be of mainland stock and not Malayo or Ainu.

During the Yayoi and Jamon period they looked like stone age people but the Chinese and I think the Koreans help civilize them or sinocize them.

I also heard that Japan during the Yamato period was a dumping ground for Korean prisoners from the Shilla, GoKoryo, and Packchae kingdoms like what Australia was for the British.
