Topic: If you were god Posted: 14-Feb-2007 at 02:32 |
If you were god and created the known universe and all humans wouldn't you atleast make it so that all acknowledge your existance and what you have done? Wouldn't you make yourself known from the beginning and not thousands of years later?

You could prove anything with the word "if". What if I was a bloodthirsty vampire? Then you would be dead.
We cannot understand how God thinks. Since He is the perfect being, it should be considered that He must have some kind of reason that our 3 pound brain cannot figure out. Just go to the philosophy forum and you will see tons of religious arguments. Don't bother making more. We have enough

Pekau has a point. After all, how many times did God play a role in actual historical events? Let's try to focus on the subject at hand, shall we?

As an Atheist, I would not believe in me... That would cause a tricky existential problem...

If you forced them to acknowledge your existence, as a supreme being, then they would all follow you and it really defeats the whole point of free will.

But remember, your God. You don't have a "convenient" human timeframe to work with, you have all of eternity. So whose to say after creation you decide to stretch and yawn and when you get back to everything you discover 10 billion years have past....talk about one of those 'Oh crap! 'moments. I believe if I was God, I wouldn't need other people to tell me who I was. Edit: Or...maybe I'd just do stuff to mess with peoples heads, like create the duck-billed platypus.

Ok, there's definetely two allusions to 'Dogma', which I thought was one of the most ridiculous and yet brilliant films i've ever seen.
I think the question is impossible to answer really, kinda like trying to imagine 'nothing', you're going to end up imagining yourself imagining nothing, because you know that the nothing cannot be concieved within the scope of our 3 pound brain, as there had to be something there to create the instrument you use to attempt to imagine the nothing that you are attempting to imagine. Succinct stuff I know!

Im agnostic which is why I would prefer not to become involved in such hypothetical silly meaningless debates which will never achieve a correct answer.

The fact the world isn't a 24/7 porn movie set proves god isn't a man.

To be blunt, nobody cares if you think the debate is pointless, show some respect to the others who have engaged in the discussion and don't post. In your absence all shall be aware of your opinion on the topic. Non-existent.
