I need  some  details about the city of Alexandria  under byzantine rule.  For instance - population, ethnic groups etc. I need to know also the names of  the key places in and around the city, such as churches, harbours. Thanks in advance to all who will reply.

Hello Sokrates

Look up "Site Formation: Alexandria's Changing Face"
on Google, it is a good document, it may help.

Also here http://www.touregypt.net/alexhis3.htm

And http://www.houseofptolemy.org/housebyz.htm

Thank you,  Zheng-ru.  I have already  read this information. I have also  rummaged through google a few times.  Unfortunately there can be found very little information about the byzantine period up to 642 A.D. Confused

Sorry, I do not know very much about this topic.

Here is another site about the Library of Alexandria,
although you may have found it already. It has some mention of Byzantine time periods.
