Rasicm will be eliminated only if difference gets eliminated. In other words, never.

Not necessarily. Actually I found it quite surprising that many people of AE considers racism natural.

I consider it natural, because rasicm means fear of difference which,in many times, ends in a cruel and even violent behaviour.Someone can argue that ."Hey,in our globalised society rasicm will be diminished, since many people of different origins live together." But this is not true.USA,a real multi-cultural State for decades, has still problems with rasicm.
When people stop fearing those who are different, then rasicm will be extinct. But this will not happen in the near future......

I am not saying that racism is right or justified, Feanor. I am merely pointing out that racism started because of our will to be better than others. This is not wrong, since competition is important... but justifying that we are better by making others "subhuman"... that is wrong.
By the way, Crusty the Clown is the one to talk.

Well, if people want to get serious about eliminating racism, intermarryage has to be promoted and immigration seriously restricted. The idea is quite simple, societies have the skills to ASSIMILATE new commers up to a certain degree, given they are small groups. This is done by means of intermarryage. But, when you end up with those so called "multicultural" society divided in hundred of small guettoes, where all people end living in its own sphere; its own world, that's calling for trouble.
And will the idea that the "naturals" will discriminatd the "modified" it may be so, specially if the later start to get all the real good jobs.

Because it is natural. Mother Nature (that some times I believe was part of the Nazi party ) has many examples of "racism" in the wild. subspecies, and varieties with very small physical differences, simple don't mix in natural environments, they avoid each others. Perhaps racism is part out set of natural instincts that come from the troglodite age, together with many others bad behavoirs that is not necesary to repeat.
Racism can be controlled to a certain degree with education but it is impossible to avoid it totally. See four years old kids, even without racist father, and certain disguisting behavoir arose spontaneously.
The only way to avoid racism is when people can't identify subgroups in society but only see continuous variations.

Pinguin, see my second last post. Just because you get rid of genetic differences does not mean the racism is gone. People will find another ways to ensure that some are more suprior than others. (ex. You know that twins fight too, right?)

Yes, I agree Pekau, people will always find some reason to fight. Some of these could be classism, nationalism, religious bigotry and thousand of other causes. But racism is only fired by physical differences between peoples.
The trick is to get rid of the things that divide societies between different groups.

What your promoting is the destruction of the world's heritage. If everybody was all the same it would be a very boring world.

I disagree penguin, I think trying to breed away difference is somewhat racist in itself, since it is trying to erase different races/cultures in a way.
Personally I think racism disappears when one race is no longer priviledged over another. Sure, prejudice would remain, but it would not have the same kind of impact at all.

I don't want racism to be eliminated.
My reasoning for this is that if you eliminate racism, you eliminate people's ability to see differences in other people. If you eliminate people's ability to see differences in other people you create a socity of complete morons.

When we realise there is only ONE RACE, the HUMAN RACE and that's it, no black, blue, purple race's just the ONE and that all we are really is a geographical grouping of this one race which has certain cultural-linguistic differences.
You'd be amazed how difficult it is for some to accept this even on AE, the amount of arguments I've had with people telling me that there is the White race, the Black race, the Yellow race bla bla bla nothing but racialistic crap.

Rome persecuted Christians, and the treatment of the Jews wasn't great.
Hardly multi-cultural.
