Who were the greatest rulers of the Islamic World, according to your opinion?

IMO, the greatest rulers were these (please add the states I forget; these are the major ones):

The Four Caliphs: Caliph Umar

Umawwids: (can't decide)

Abbsids: Caliph Hrnu'r-Rashd

Seljkids: Most would say Sultn Malk Shh, but I say Sultn Tughrul Begh

Qara-Khanids: Again, most would say Satuq Bughra Khan, but I remember reading about a just, good and powerful ruler named Ismil

Gaznawids: Mahmd I (definitially)

Ottomans: The majority claims Sultn Sleymn I as the greatest ruler of the Ottomans, but I think Sultn Mehmed II was greater than him

Ayybids: Definitially Sultn Salha'd-dn

Mamlks: Sultn Baybars of course

Safavids: Shh Abbs I

Kharezm-Shhs: Qutba'd-dn Muhammed, perhaps...

Tulunids: Ahmed Ibn Tulun

Uhm, you continue  There are also large and important Islamic states such as the Smnids, Ftmids, Aghlbids, Grids, Delhi Sultanate, etc but I don't know much about them

My favourite is Sultan Mahmud II.

Also Bayazid was successfull.

I agree with you,  but I think Tughrul Beg real name was ,

Han Tughrul Beg , later he got extra names  due to  that he "  rescued"  the  caliph of bagdad.

He got the name , extended/  lofty   Sultan , king of east and west ,

Han, meaning Khan ,

His real name was

Han Tughrul Beg , Extended Sultan , King of East and West

Why the hell didn't you mention Nader Shah, the Persian/Iranized Turkmen, called the Iranian Napolean or second Cyrus?

He was a great conqueror but not much of a ruler. He was oppressive, intolerant and a massmurderer.

Not always a true statement to base on Nader Shah. He tried to reconcile the Shiites and the Sunnis into one, if one joined the military, they were exempted from taxes and labours And he is considered to be the last great Asian conqueror for the next three hundreds years of history.

For me, the ten greatest islamic rulers were (with one ruler for one empire):

-Timur Leng. The best general of history and a fantastic ruler (economy, law, art, etc ...)

-Babur.

-Iltutmish. The best ruler for the sutanate of Delhi and one of the best rulers in the Indian history.

-Mahmud of Ghazni.

-Bay Bars.

-Mehmed II.

-Al Mansour (for the Abbassids).

-Abbas the Great.

-Tughrul Beg.

-Ismal I (for the Samanids).

I can not really say he was a fantastic ruler. He might've been if he sticked himself to conquering, not genocide and pillaging OVER the amount that was normal at that time. He brought Persia back a few centuries.

Ismal I was a Samanid. Therefore he was a persian, a muslim persian.

He brought Persia back a few centuries.

That's completely false. On the contrary, he tried to put right Persia which had been devastated by the mongols.

You are wrong. I recommend you to learn about that instead of just to repeat this kind of stupidity.

Timur surely devastated many lands, Iran was just one of them.

He was the son of Anush Tegin, founder of the Turkish Khrezm-Shh dynasty. However, I switch my mind; I think Ala'd-dn Tekish was the greatest Khrezm-Shh ruler (just read my article).

Jalaladdin...

Jalla'd-dn? That fool who kept waging un-succesful wars? Definitially not the greatest Khrezm-Shh, when compared with Ala'd-dn Tekish

Yes, but it wasn't "just a vacuum of death" like Tobodai wrote

It was a vacuum of despair. You know nothing of Iran or Iranian history.
