when I recently found out that the medieval Qara Qalpaks were comprised of Pechenegs, Berendei but predominantly Torks, I also figured out that todays Uzbekistan has an autonomous republic of karakalpakstan. and now i foudn  out that the Torks were called Uz by the byzantines... so if Torks = Uzes, and qara qalpaks are Torks and today part of the Uzbegs, then is it likely that they are the same? (Uzes = Uzbegs?)

The name Uzbek drives from z Bek (also known as z Bek), one of the rulers of the "Golden Horde".

well maybe so, but z Beg means ruler of the Uz (full name was Muhammad Uz Beg), so it could still be, and Torks/Qara Qalpaks lived in the golden horde, they could have been relocated. it can hardly be a coincidence, don't you think?

Indeed the Torks (Uz) and Qara Qalpaqs lived inside the "Golden Horde".

However, there are two different dialects spoken in Uzbekistan; one of them is in the Qypchaq Group while the other one is in the Eastern Group (along with the Uyghur dialects). The Uz were Oghuz whereas the Qaraqalpaqs are Qypchaq-speaking.

well, language can change over time, after the time the kypchak moved into the Pontic steppe, they must have changed their language. and when they moved into transoxania, the local language (Uighur dialect) must have preserved in some parts.

But the dialect spoken in Transoxiana was Chaghatai, wasn't it?
