I have seen many pictures of Teutonic knights having winged or horned helmets. Like these -

But are there any real evidences or references about Knights having these helmets in battles etc?
I think that they(winged or horned helmets) are totally unpractical in real battles, because these horns could catch sword or spear slash easily and harm the helmet bearer.

Teutonic knights were part of military monastic order, founded around 1190 in Palestine during Crusades. They came from Germany (Holy Roman Empire).

Their Crusades were primarily in the 13th century onward along the Baltic coast and against heathen tribesmen of Sorbs and Balts.  This colonization was very strange in that they remained mostly a monastic military order imposing Christianity on the Baltic peoples (and gaining territory from which they derived income and wealth).  Many of the Teutonic Knights came from Swabia and also from Westphalia in Germany, and their descendants remained military men in service to both Lutheran Sweden and later to Orthodox Russia up to the 20th century.

What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.
