Instead of Greater Iran - which has nationalist undertones, how about  Ancient Iran? It would be more in line with geographic regions by time period anyway and covers the same historical grounds.

Just a suggestion.

I think there is no need to use both Mesopotamia and Greater Iran, ancient Near East (or ancient Middle East) covers them.

I agree on that point, then the sub titles should inclde the various kingdoms/empire and regions.

but let's first define Middle East... I don't think we have a clear definition for this phrase. Anybody can have a different image for it. Sometimes it covers north Africa... sometimes it covers some USSR states, sometimes it doesn't. sometimes Afghanistan or Pakistan is there, sometimes they're not.

no need, the middle east is not an issue - the proposed name is near east and it is defined.  it will have the same context of the current forum.

Hi,

I liked the idea someone had once to call it SW Asia. So what about ancient SW Asia?
