Things have to turned to a bad start for the Democrats all southern states and most states at all have Republican senators and the icing on the cake George W. Bush is relected. Is this the start of a completely Republican goverment?

Nope, because during Roosevelt's time, the Democrats swept practically all the states. Then the Republicans came back up to dominate.

I think there needs to be a very big electoral realignment if the Democrats want to have more power.  I think that after Bush is done we'll have another 8 years of some Republican because it looks like Hillary Clinton is going to run for President, and that she's going to get her ass kicked.

Well personally I see something of a split coming in the Republican party.  Right now the most prominent possible Republican presidential candidates are either moderate, McCain, or even liberal, Giullianni.  I don't see the religous right rallying behind either one.

Bush appointing McCaine VP would be the smartest move he's ever made.

the Republican party is very strong right now, and they wage far more effective and smarter campaigns, if they fall soon it will be because of internal discord.  There are alot of extreme zealots that may push the moderate section of th eparty to pull a Jim Jeffords.

It would indeed be risky for the Democrats to nominate Hillary. Unlike her husband, a southern dem, many see her as a New York liberal despite the fact she lived in Arkansas. I believe she is actually from Illinois, correct me if im wrong.

Its still is a two party system, the pendulum will swing.

Oh yes, the pendulum will swing again.

It wasn't that long ago that the Republicans prayed for rain on election day.  The joke was that would be the only way the Republicans could win.

Up here, which is often called the "Soviet Socialist Republic of Washington", Dino Rossi(R) beat Christine Gregoire(D) by 261 votes for governor. Thats shocking!
Never thought that would happen and has me scratching my head. Recounts underway.
