There are stories that Yuri Gagarin was not the first man in space. The story goes that there was at least one Russian cosmonaut before him, but when he returned he was either insane or somehow or other badly disabled. The story goes that the Russians hid him away and all records of his space flight were expunged. Have you heard these stories? Is there any truth to them?

I have heard the same! Maybe one day we will learn the truth?

Thanks again! Ron

It certainly was, he was a very brave and dedicated man. When he took the space flight, the odds against him ever returning alive were massive.

To the old Soviet Union he was merely another monkey!
