How many of us actually spent their money to fund the UN to send grains to feed African people. Out of that money, how much money goes to support the UN workers instead of buying more food for Africans? And all the grains sent to Africa, are they really helping the Africans? Yes, they are fed. But does not help really? Imagine eating bread or rice for your entire life. Africans still suffer lack of nutrients, and they die due to diseases that can be so easily avoided by eating nutrious food. And why can't we send them? Because sending nutrients would make the food donation so expensive. You have to store them in reasonable condition, so that they don't rot... and maybe because world is not ready for Africa' recovery?

And these African children smile with foreign workers... it makes me sick.

What are the reasons for the hunger in Africa?
Which parts of the continent are the most affected?
When did that phenomenon start?
Why such vast and rich in natural resources continent cannot be self-sufficient in terms of food supplies (well, atleast some parts of it cannot)?
I think answering this basic questions is more important for solving the problem than "Why UN is not sending more" issue.
Sending food is like healing the symptoms, not the disease itself and this cannot last forever.

Sending food also undermines the local farmers, thereby destroying the local economy. It is only a blessing for fixing up a short crises. Long term it is punishment.

We have a dilemma, but I think they rather live than dying for a hope within 10 years or so...

Don't send any money to UN. We do contribute direct thru a long established organisation here who actually work in the field providing water education and medical care.

Sure a proportion of each £ will go to the organisation. However even if 50p is held back that is still 50p going where there was no 50p before
