Australian punter Saverio Rocca has made it in the NFL. Although Rocca's place on the Eagles' roster won't become official until tomorrow, Dirk Johnson, the Eagles' incumbent punter, http://blogs.phillyburbs.com/blog.php?p=17674&cat=9 - comfirmed today that he got cut, meaning the punting job belongs to Rocca.

Rocca had an outstanding preseason, and his presence is yet another signal that the best source of punting talent for American football might be Australia, a country whose version of football requires players to have both powerful kicking legs and the skill required for hang time and directional kicking.

Saw this in the paper today, he isn't the first Aussie Rules player to end up in NFL ranks. The two games rely on different strengths, Aussie Rules needs a lot more agility and speed, whilst American Football has the sheer weight of the bone crushing smash. But the two games both require good runners and players who can kick the same type of ball well.
