Obviously I have clear favorite, but when it comes to the best, the choice ets harder: none of them have been playing excellent football in the last months. In fact, I think the best national team football I saw in recent years was Czech Republic's in Euro 2004.

I dunno Mu, it didn't look like that during the last world cup. I didn't see anything particularly artistic or spectacular about Brazillian football.

I know, only game Brazil looked like Brazil was vs Japan, the only game Robinho played extensive minutes.  They thought they had their Fantastic Four upfront by starting Ronaldo, Adriano. Ronaldinho and Kaka, but the Fantastic Four should have been Ronaldo, ROBINHO, Ronaldinho and Kaka.
Don't get me wrong, I love Adriano, but I think he is too similar to Ronaldo to play next to him.  Robinho playing with either Ronaldo or Adriano would have opened up their game.  With both Ronaldo, Adriano upfront, they were playing more like a English team, just trying to muscle it in the box, yuk.

I hope Dunga knows better, and I think he does.  He's giving the young guys more chances like Robinho, Diego,  Elano,  Mancini, Alex, etc.

Of course, Brazil can't deliver every tournament, but they are just about only team in the world that even if they win, they still get slammed if they didn't play the 'Beautiful Game', like the 94' team.  That is the difference between being a winner and the being an artist.  A winner just wants to beat the other guy, an artist sees the other guy as a partner who bring out the masterpiece in him.

I'm a huge Leo Messi fan, so I'm going to have to go for Argentina.

Mu - I do appreciate artistic football. When I was in Spain last year I took to watching FC Barcelona play every weekend. Prior to x-mas they were playing some gorgeous football. I imagine it'll be even more gorgeous when they integrate fully healed Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Messi and Henry.

Ireland - When you've got a player like Kevin Kilbane (or Zinadine Kilbane as we like to call him) with over 70 caps for his country you know your dealing with greatness. Paired up with quality like Clinton (balance) Morrison we just cant lose..! Brazil can go suck on a lemon

Gosh, so much truth in that posting, I don't even know where to begin.  I do think they are one of the most underrated team in UEFA for sure.  If they were in CONCACAF, they would have dogfights with Mexico for CONCACAF supremacy year in and year out.  But then again I could say that for more than a dozen UEFA teams.

Speaking of UEFA teams, would you guys please stop putting Turkey and Greece in same qualifying groups.  I know, Turkey is not even in Europe and Greece is not exactly a political and economic leader of Europe, but come on, the third place team in WC 2002 and reigning Euro Cup champ had to play in same qualifying groups for WC 2006 and then for Euro 2008.  Does I smell racialism?

Messidona! enough said.

I do think that the Beautiful Game is cultivated not instructed.  It's not just winning games or scoring as many goals as possible or even entertaining the fans.  When the beautiful moment reveals herself in a beautiful game, we all are blessed to be a part, as the players who became the medium or the fans disarmed by witnessing the greatness, at that moment we all are truly blessed to be in position to appreciate something beautiful as if we are looking at Sistine Chapel or Grand Canyon or Jessica Alba.  At that moment, do you really care who made them?  Or you just wanna keep looking at them?  Do you guys remember when Ronaldinho got the standing ovation in Bernabeu?  These people fought civil wars against each other, for God sake.  Who knew beauty can disarm you faster than force.  Only if U.S. can learn that lesson......, ha ha ha.

Enough with this fairy talk, I like how Argentinian young talents are developing in 'Small Ball' style.  Since Batistuta, Argentina has hard time producing a superstar big striker.  With the talents they have in Tevez, Messi, Saviola, Aimar, D'Alessandro, even Milito, they are tailored for 'Small Ball'.  As much as I enjoyed Requelme's Villareal in 05-06 season and his Zidaneque classiness, his lack of speed, pace, workrate slows the game down.  No, I'm not giving up on him yet though.  I've heard actually he is rejuvenated playing for his eternal home team Boca Juniors.
And before I forget,  Cambiasso  is one of the most underrated player in the world.  Real Madrid's 'Galacticos' biggest mistake wasn't spending all that money on Beckham and Owen when they could had Ronaldinho and Eto'o instead(one of the reason Real didn't sign Ronaldinho was that they thought Dinho was too ugly, I guess Tevez will never play for RealTongue), their biggest mistake was letting guys like Makalele, Cambiasso and even Geremi leave the club.  Just look at how they have made Chelsea and Inter better.

One more thing on Barca, they also picked up Henry's countryman Abidal who I think would be an integral part of the future of French football behind Ribery and will be a great fit for Barca.

Hey I like the Italians. The sneaky downright unfair way they play their matches appeals to me.

During the last world cup the Italian were surely the best team. Now, well, they are being Italian and they are trying hard to make us believe they can miss the next Euro. As a result France which is in a transition phase is looking strong but hey you never know…
Then Brazil starts to be too full of itself and it's been 13 years since the last time they really delivered the Jugo Bonito. On the contrary Argentina seems as strong as this team can be. Look Tavez saved his club singlehandedly. For me the match against Serbia last year was just impressive, a team able to do that deserves the world cup.

Again, I was right Riquelme looked great in Copa America, but he couldn't get the ball to Messi or Tevez against Brazil, too slow, same as Veron. In the end they got schooled by 'Cheeky School Boy Ball' of young Brazilian B team. I actually thought that Argentina had a shot. They should have started Aimar and Lucho Gonzalez.

So... There is a Brazillian Hands here.... I must say, Mu, I don't like Brazil because they play without staying powerr, sometimes good, sometimes not (We Indonesian called it angin-anginan). I liked Germany because they had staying Power, and they're consistent to gain a good place in an International-Star rated tournament (except for the shame of Euro 2004).

btw, my Second favourite is Nederlands because of their Total Football game and their great physical strength and also a good mentality.

We I guess everything in the world has a father, like Mendeleyev, Dmitry Ivanovich is know to be father of chemistry, Mosa Khwarazim as father of Al-gibra, and many more, the same way football as a father and it's BRAZIL no camparison to be made with them though England has introduced it (as far as I know) but it is Brazil who has popularized it.

So BRAZIL it is.

Hey, Brazil is only team that can win outside of her own continent, if you don't count Argentina in Mexico 86', but Mexico is more of a Latin American county anyway.  Yes, Germany or Netherlands should have won in Argentina 78'.   Staying power?  Brazil won two out of last four cups, and they made to final in 98'  Can you say that about any other country?  If Brazil can send four teams like the Brits, we might see an all Brazil World Cup semi-finals someday.
Btw, I don't have Brazilian hands but sure like to have their feet.  Oh, and their women, too.Tongue

How would Nietzsche put it?  Something like "it is easy to say 'I don't like him', but it takes courage to say 'because I am not equal to him'.  A real German should understand that when they can not be logical they should be courageous at least.  Now that is the truth about the truthfulness.Wink

And for Balain, try badminton instead.LOL
