I just like the Arcani because they look so evil Evil%20Smile, can hide anywhere, run as fast as cataphracts (well...nearlyTongue) and have really cool melee movesWink

However I must admit that I am definatly a cavalry commander in RTW, they are so maneuverable and fast, but are very over-rated in their impact and power.

Roman Infantry are among the best infantry because they attack, defend and adapt to the war environment much quicker than other type of armies. They have decent attack, defense, adaptation, mobility, and communication. Plus, the combined force of sword, spear and bow are the most formiddable army. (I defined infantry as any kind of footmen)

I must say that I stopped playing Rome Total War since I had major exams coming up almost regulary. So I don't remember too much about the game anymore...

I like the Falxmen, chosen axemen, and the silver shield-pikemen (in fact, i like all the phalanx style units.) The legionary cohorts would come close behind these three units.

I love horse units because they can be used in coordination with infantry and used for flanking and rear attacks. My favorite are the cataphracts.

because you can benefit them al every unit has it skills that can be used in a entirely way then a other unit with the germans I set up a very different formation then withe the the romans

But I don't like the chariots because they are weak and there is not much to benefit of you only have to send cavalry on it and the already are dead or routing

Horse archers (particulary Arminian in vanila) are the most fun to play IMO.
Roman infantry most usefull.
