Hi, i was reading the books of Fernand Braudel "The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean world..." and now that we have internet i can ask, Did Omar lufti Barkan write another work? did he finish his work?

As you see (sorry moderator):

A wonderful map, and say that the author made another for Anatolia, and in the previous page Braudel say that Barkan was doing a wonderful work about Ottoman Empire. Wich? I can't find very much in the net, only a work about the turkish deportations in Europe...

Ups!

Show the population of the ottoman balkans at the beginning of the XVI century.

The indications of the upper left said (each symbol, 250 families):

Cities:

Muslims (black square)
Christians (white square)
Jews (square with a point)

-Country:

Peasants (circle, a black circle are muslim peasants, white circle christians...)

Peasants Nomads (???) with military organization:

Cross (i think, whitout clear ethnicity)
Yuruks (black diagonal line, right to left)
Tartarians (black diagonal line, left to right)
Bulgarians (two diagonal lines)

As you see, a great concentration of muslim peasants in Bosnia, christians in northern Greece, many Jews in Tessaloniki... Unfortunatelly, this author couldn't find the dates about Istambul.

So i want see the map for Anatolia and the book that this historian write about the Ottoman Empire  many time ago...

bye
