Specificly a J2ME one, for mobile/wireless devices.

I'm trying to teach myself how to do it. But if anyone has done it please feel free to give some pointers, or recomend good tutorials etc.

Try the sun tutorial sites.

I was learning how to do it there, but got sidetracked with life.

Maybe we can work together if you wish. Send me a pm. I have another project that might interest you.

Yeah, i got some of the sun tutorial pages bookmarked.
I was thinking with starting with some basic, like a 'recipe booklet', which will actualy be a notepad thing in fancy dress, either from scratch, or by converting one if i find a suitable source code.
Also there is a shopping list maker that i have the source code for, that i want to improve on and correct some spelling mistakes in (its made by a Russian who as released the source codes.

I'll probably need to start with Java basics before trying to apply them to J2ME though.

While I haven't written Java applets for mobile devices, I have written some applications in ASP.NET for mobile devices. I can tell you that mobile applications are similar enough to regular applications, but you do have quite a few limitations, and it takes a while to get used to the limited number of options you have for the interface. It can be pretty painful at first, since you might have some bad habits, if you're someone who programmes regularly.
