Being from the West Midlands it is not difficult for my mind to wonder of the days gone by. What of the Ancient Britains or Murcia as it was called then. Perhaps the only time when we controlled anything; we subdued the Anglian, hence lady Godiva, we even rivaledthe Wessex kingdom for a while and defeated the Welsh and the northeners, rivaling the Danes in ferocity and organisation. After all we were only plain Angles!!
What I would like to know are the little things. It was a time of barbarity Edwin of Northumbria was captured at Doncaster by Penda and toasted on a rack, Offa built his dyke. Another Edwin rebelled against the rule of the France in 1071 - I bet that took some guts.
Does anyone have details of what happened to both Edwins?
