An incredibly good site. I was able to look up Dad's ship, LST-758. The photos they have however, are all post WWII. I'll have to do something about that.
Also, the history they have is skewed, they list several things that the ship wasn't involved in, but missed things it was. However, it's much more accurate than the Navy sites.
This site has the ship under the command of a Coast Guard LT. According to Dad, Felix Molenda was a "crazy a**ed four striper Navy Capt. who had already had a DD and a DE shot out from under him". "We would have followed him into the eternal fires".
