Where was Hara Berezaiti? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hara_Berezaiti Harā Berezaitī, literally meaning "High Watchpost", is the name given in the Avestan language to a legendary mountain around which the stars and planets revolve.

Avestan Bereziati and Persian Porz means "Barrow": http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=barrow&searchmode=none from Proto-Germanic *bergaz (cf. O.C.S. bregu "mountain, height," O.Ir. brigh "mountain,", ...) and Avestan Hara, Persian Ala means "Watchpost", it can be compared to famous Alamut mountain fortress.

So the original Persian name was Alaporz which was changed to Elbrus of the western Caucasus mountain range: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Elbrus that as you read is a metathesis of this name and finally Alpes in Latin.
