A love story set in Azerbaijan at the time of the Bolshevik revolution. Love between Ali an Azerbaijani Muslim and Nino a Georgian.

Its a simple but sweet story telling much about the struggle of Eastern and Western Civilisation on a personal and international scale. Its plainly written and ideal for all ages with a theme of love under strain that should have timeless appeal.

Through Ali it also frequently alludes to a relationship with Persian Culture that Azerbaijan very much has but chooses to overlook in the modern era, having had many complexes created by their incorporation into a European milieu of Russian domination.

This is a fascinating issue given contempory changes in the political situation of these two countries. Can love be rekindled?
