My grandfathers "DD-214" or WW1 era "War service certificate" list's his unite, a ship, and santo domingo as places where he served. also listed is the American ex. force, republic of france.

However I had always understood that he had gotten sick and was medically discharged.

Why the difference in the dd-214. it's hand written, so youd think it would be correct. could it be wrong....

so, if it says that he served in france, is that true?. No one in my family ever said that he left the states.

it would probably help if you knew what this document titled a "war service certificate" was.
