Personally I'm going for Bob Paisley. A very quiet man who didn't pubicize himself like the others, but was more successful. He's still the only manager in the world to win three European Cups.

...Being a Chelsea supporter, it hurts to nominate Alex Ferguson, but my vote has to go to him, for consistancy, longevity and the amount of bloody cups in Manures trophy cabinet!!!..
...the man's resiliance is admirable and he has proved himself yet again by bringing the Premiership trophy back to old Trafford once more...
..Paisley was a great manager and his European record does speak for itself, but overall, i will stick with AF i think.....

I would vote for John Sitton, but since he isn't in the poll - I vote for Brian Clough. Sitton's motivating skills were very good and he would be very useful for England's national team where guys seriously need some mental rampage. Though sadly currently he works as a cab driver somewhere in London. Some examples of John Sitton in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXCgeSsSM48http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6WxrWT7IG0&mode=related&search=

Mourinho is going to claim a conspiracy because he is not up there. Alex gets me vote.

They say John Sitton is a pussycat compared to Fergusson when you get on his wrong side.

indeed, Fergie. For his success and more importantly to me, for his ability to bring on and preserve talent. He has been instrumental for English internation football over the past decade and continues to improve the English Game.
does have a contraversial side though!

So what's he doing in a poll for the best English football club manager?
For that matter, what are Ferguson, Shankly and Busby doing in there? They aren't/weren't English either.
Ruling out the foreigners, it has to be Bob Paisley.

So even an ''English'' can get confused of the usage of English.. Maybe the thread should have been best Premier League manager then

Hmm
Best English {football-club-manager} or
Best {English-football-club} manager?
First is Paisley, second is Ferguson.
Of course you still have to ask whether Arsenal under Wenger is an English football club.
{I'm trying desperately to stop myself considering an English Gaelic football club. There certainly used to be Australian football clubs at Oxford and Cambridge, because I've seen them play each other.}
