It was the end of spring in 1945. The second world war was coming to an end. no one can imagine, that Europe was at the edge of starting a fierce battle.
In Texel, an island of Netherlands, Fascists took 800 Georgians as an additional extra forces. Red army soldiers,, who had been taken hostages in 1941-42s, were in the army too. On April, 1945, Georgian soldiers were ordered to fight against allied military units, but before it, in April 5-6, Georgians had revolted. Texel became the last front in Europe, where hundreds of Germans, Georgians and local inhabitants were killed during brutal attacks. The battle lasted till May 20. Texel tragedy, almost forgotten by local population, ended after Canadian troops set foot on the land.

Quite interesting...

Georgian soldiers dying in the Netherlands.

Once again proved us the fact that The Second World war was a total global war in scope.

May the rest live in peaceCry

Oh my God, give it up already! Why does every topic that you decide to post in have to end up with Bosnia, Srberenica, or Serbs did this, Serbs did that. Stay on topic, this has nothing to do with July 11th, or Bosnia. And, just for the record, it has been said that 8,000 was an inflated number and not that many people really died.
