Hallu!

Please take 3 minutes and 56 seconds to watch this video:

Dabka

The Dabka - as I have known it - is a traditional line-dance, popular in al-Shaam and Iraq.  Encylopedia Britannica defines it as an "Arab dance," but is it really?

I have recently come across the Wikipedia article on this subject, and found two theories on the history and origin of the Dabka dance.  One theory suggests that it may be Turkish (or Gypse) in origin; the other implies that it may have originated in al-Shaam (Greater Syria; Levant.)

Any opinions, comments, theories ... etc. anyone?

I don't know the origins of that particular dance. It resembles one of the Turkish folk dances no doubt. Similar folk dancing can be found in Greece, the Balkans and Caucasus.

It looks like river dance  from lord of the dance, what's the guy's name again?

There is also line dancing in Iran.

Steps seems to be different but the costumes of ladies look like Salwar Kameez worn by women in Punjab.
