I need solid evidence to find out the originality of this name.
we have names like. Farshid, Farbod, Fartam, etc but I wasnt sure about Farid.
Any body know where this name is comming from ?

Im quite sure the name comes from the semitic root

ph - r - d

which means: seperate, unique, individual, divided up, etc.

..so, i guess the answer would be Arabic

yup as Halevi said its from the root F r d,

and Farid is also used as a name it  means Unique
