I think that what Turner said was that the Anglo-Saxons were Iranian, and he was using "Iranian" in its broader meaning as a synonym for "IndoEuropean". He said something about the Anglo-Saxons, Goths, and Scythians all having the same origins. Maybe far, far back, they did. Most of the European peoples (including the Anglo-Saxons) are IndoEuropean, as are a good many of the Southcentral Asian peoples (including the Persians).
