PETRELA CASTLE
The Petrela Castle, near Durres, Albania, is one of the oldest
surviving castles in the world. Built in the 6th century, it has
survived the passage of time impossibly well. The castle's stone and
wooden components are still the original ones put into place 1,500
years ago.
The castle has been an important fortress for the Romans, the Greeks,
the Turks, and the Albanians. It is, even today, extremely isolated and
is accessible only via all-terrain vehicles.

man the trail up there is tough and scary. Its been ruined though some bum bought it and made into a restaurant. Boy do i feel bad for the waiters, getting up and down from there(steep and long stairs) to get food and back. Must be hell.
