    Posted: 14-Nov-2005 at 13:05
Hi
I have to take the SAT II World History on December and I don't know which book I should study with.

Currently, in my history class "A History of the Modern World" from Mc Graw Hill is being used. But the book is mostly about Europe after Middle Ages and I wonder if that book is good enough for the preparation.

Thanks

I took this test and got an 800.

Best preparation?

1.  Take AP Euro.  World history questions will be broad, Euro questions will be in depth.

2.  Buy one of the study guides and just flip through it easy like.

3.  Hang out at AE.

As it's an American test, I'd be stunned if it wasn't almost totally Western orientated.

The best way is to get a prep book and read it. If that's not possible, you can go to online sites like Sparknotes.

Questions on Europe and the Western world will be critical.

Damn, I only got 640. What happened? I thought I was kinda good in history

Questions were very general but they can get specific, too. Some asked me about colonial Latin America and Africa, which I had completely no knowledge of.

Well, that puts me only in 67th percentile.

One of the questions: Which is characteristic of Confucianism?

A) Ancestor worship led by the eldest of the family
B) Ceremony led by priest.

I chose A but btw is there a Confucian priest?

Both are pretty wrong, but if those are your only two choices, A's probably the right one.  Westerners can usually get away with saying Confucianism is ancestor worship but there is absolutely no priesthood involved.

I took a 100 question sample of the world history test and missed like 5...to make an 800 do you have to get every question right?

I don't think so.  There's usually a curve, so you can afford to get a few wrong.
