Topic: possible future Total War games? Posted: 15-Oct-2005 at 19:17 |
I would like to hear your opinions about theme in future TW game? I
hope it would be medieval times in Rome TW grafic engine, more
factions, more cities, and the campaign map could cover more northern
Europe and Middle East like Iran, Arabia.

They might do the Age of Mercantilism, Enlightenment, or Revolutions.
Those are some of the ones I expect them to draft up in the future,
though I have no idea what's going to happen with Sega in charge.

I agree, but Imperial Glory is just like an Enlightenment Age Total War game.

But I still hope for Medieval wars in Roma grafic engine in future.
Negative thing for me in possible 17 or 18 century Total War game would
be too much long distance fighting with cannons and rifles and this
warfare will need larger battlemaps, which will slow down the game for
most computers.

Axeman, if you have a Dell, you can get two 512MB of RAM for $50.

That will probably be done with a mod sooner or later.

I'm downloading the demo now, what PC requirenemnts are needed? The website didn't say.
Also does it come with that horrible copy protection thing that dumps extra stuff on your computer? Or was that just a rumour?

I think it does have copy protection. The PC requirements are 256
MB RAM and a 64 MB graphics card. Cossacks II is a better game though.
It is an RTS and you can have over 10,000 men on the battlefield. You
do need at least 512 MB RAM. It is recommended that you have 768 MB RAN.

Hmm by copy protection i meant that the one some games use that
installs malicious software onto your computer, not the regular variety.
The demo download failed for some reason, i'll try again later.

I was hoping for a game (before Barbarian Invasions was announced) that would have started around 350AD and go to about 750AD.
It would have started like BI does, but continue on past 486 to include
western Europe after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, and have the
Islamic armies burst onto the scene from Arabia in 634AD (like the
Mongols did in MTW:VI).
But with BI out now, such a game probably will not be made...

I would like to see something along the lines of the Victorian Age. This era has always fascinated me.

Once again I stay with my previous conviction that of course is totally the best
INDIA: TOTAL WAR
We ahve enough Europe, enough China, get these things out of the strategy genre just for one day! India is a glorious nation with glorious history and battles, it deserves more than any other to be removed from being neglected and placed in the highest and best strategy game ever. Its expansion could be "Muslim invasion"
Of course my dream game would just be Steppe: total war all about the nomads, but im not sure if you could do stuff that appeals to alot fo players like build. But as I say, if you want to built play Civ or one of those wussy age of empires games.

May be a Mezo-America Total War, with Aztecs etc. And the expansion should be the Spanish Invasion.

Anyone thought of making a mod that does one of these ideas?
The easiest would be to do it with MTW.

All these ideas are being made into mods. I like to watch mods being made, I don't understand how people have the patience for it. I doubt I'll play any of them since I'm not big into video games. I waste my money on games so I barly buy them, I play'em for a week then they just collect dust...

Well India is in a mod, but the mod has alot to do with asian mythology. But the guy who is making it does it very well, looks like a work of art. I think its called Loyus or Blue Lotus Total War.

Well we havent had a China total war ,Tang dynasty would be really nice with nations like Tang,Koguryo,Turks or mongol total war as they could include battles with virtually every medieval army.
Total war india , i must say i dont know that much indian military history but i know the Delhi Sultanate is a very powerful army.
