Tehran (Ancient Rey/Rhages):

Zoroaster, founder of Zoroastrianism.

Can't offer much.

Southampton, England.

Isaac Watts the hymn writer.

Also the headmaster of my school in the mid-17th century* wrote the last defence of the flat earth theory that anyone took seriously. But I forget his name.

* despite appearances, I was not a pupil at the time.

The pickins' are pretty slim for Knoxville, TN.  Admiral Farragut is the easy choice.

A large section of West Knoxville is named after him.  Suffice to say that I don't like the man, and I don't like the High School named after him...

Bilbao. I think the most famous are Miguel de Unamuno (writer in Spanish) and Sabino Arana (fouder of modern Basque Nationalism).

how do you know that Zoroaster was born in Tehran?

AFAIK his date of birth has a huge error from 6th century BC to even 38th Century BC !!

so its not known exactly when did he exist, somewhere in the 3000 years between 6th and 38th cuenturies BC is not an Accurate assumption, he could be a myth.

Erm.... Me!

Don't know about anyone else famous being born in my area but we had a famous death. Robert Rogers of Rogers Rangers drank himself to death in my local pub. There's even a plaque where his stool was and a stool there so you can sit in the same spot and drink yourself to death too (many are). And what's more his grave's just outside the pub so you can look at him while doing so.

Another pub nearby a mate's house used to be JRR Tolkein's local for a few years. If you read the description of the pub in Hobbiton they're virtually identical.

Isn't he that loyalist during the American Revolution? I don't like him anyways, if I remember right he was the one who caught Nathan Yale of the state I live in Connecticut. While I don't have or know of any famous people from my area, Nathan Yale was a spy for the Americans and was caught and hung.

He's not a philosopher either but a religious leader or prophet.
