I haven't found anything that is specifically a period illustration of a turcopole but there is an Icon of a Saint equiped as a Turcopole, St Catherine’s Monastery, Sinai, late 13th century
and this Turcople in Armies and Enemies of the Crusades 1096-1291 by Ian Heath based on descriptions of Turcopoles.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">The Knights Templar were formed in Jerusalem.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">They were a monastic order, answerable only to the Pope, they were not a secret society.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Prince Philip the Fair - with Pope Clement - arrested the Templars and had them tried for heresy. It was a ruse; Philip had used up all the money of France, devalued the currency, and (having hid out with the Templars previously) knew the Templars had a huge treasury that he could plunder for his own nefarious purposes. The last Grand Master - DeMolay - was roasted at the stake. As he was cooking, it's said that he said he'd see Philip and Clement "before God" within the year. Within a year, Philip and Clement died.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">They were not all hunted down.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Some say they fled to Scotland, and there's some data that can support this (google Rosslyn).

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Some say they loaded up all their gold into their "templar fleet" and disappeared, and there's some data to support this as well - although it's said that the Templars used Venetian ships - as the Templar Commandery in France was empty when Philip seized it, ships did disappear, and there's that whole Orkney Island thing.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Some also say that that many people leaving with that much gold on that many ships would certainly have been noticed ... and that a far better idea would have been to escape overland. And there's even evidence to support that theory as well; the Templars did come up with the first banking system, and overland from France is Switzerland (y'know ... that place with all the banking that goes back centuries).

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Some say that they even escaped to America. And there's even evidence to support THAT theory (it does involve Templars, Venetians, ships, Henry Sinclair and Nicolo Zeno).

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">And there's even the theory that the Templars joined the early masonic guilds, and eventually this group evolved into the Freemasons (that part about evolving is true. And there's the Scottish Rite, which is French and involves Knights ... and the York Rite does have the Christian Knights Templar ... which is the final order, and is only open to Royal Arch Masons who promise to defend the Christian faith.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">There is some overlap in all of the theories about what happened to the Templars after the death of the Grand Master Jacques De Molay ... but a great many of them involve Henry Sinclair ... who was the Earl of Orkney (the island with the Money Pit dig on it), who did, apparently know the Zeno brothers (who did travel and explore the oceans extensively), and who is part of the legacy of Rosslyn Chapel.

<span style="color: rgb38, 40, 42; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Were they bad, though? No. They were fierce warriors who never retreated and who the enemy always put to death if they were captured. They were legendary.

The Money pit is on Oak Island, in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. I've never seen a ref. to the Orkneys.
There is considerable evidence pointing to a Templar presence in coastal Nova Scotia.
