I don't find this particularly surprising as my interaction with a number of anthro-s and archaeo reported oral histories on this subject 30 years ago.

My own very long association with varying tribes and elders confirm the same. the surprise is in it took the scholars this long to substantiate the use of stimulates viz chemical testing. something that well known as early as the research of many 19thce. explorers...missionaries etc.etc.

First time I've heard of cocoa travelling that far north in that time period. Most interesting. This cleansing black drink is it also used to spray over individuals, with incantations when being blessed? Watched such a blessing the other day, although I think it was performed in Guatemala.
What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

good point Alani..I never thought much about it ...otoh it's likely it was grown or founbd wild in Mexico and found it's way north into the SW tribes area of economic expansion.

The BD ritual is common as was the use ritual use of Tiswin.
