This topic will help you to understand Turkish words, mostly compound words. After that you can see how we see the world. Example, Conquest of İstanbul and Fall of Constantinople are same historical event but their mentality are very different.


refrigerator/fridge   =  Buzdolabı = Ice Cabinet
 ice=buz,  cabinet=dolap

Platypus  = Gagalı memeli  = Beaked Mammal
Gaga=Beak, Gagalı=Beaked, Meme=Mamilla, Memeli=Mammal

Don't worry. There are many words which were created with same thinking way. Example;

Write = Yaz-mak                      Writing=Yazı         Writer=Yazıcı (something which writes, whose work is this)

*Breakfast = Kahvaltı = Kahve(Coffe) + Alt(Under)
  It means, breakfast is something you eat before drinking coffe.

*good evening, good night have same mentality but morning is different
  good morning = günaydın = shine morning or morning is shining

Please continue with lots more, Ollios. But can you also help those people like me to understand more by explaining the English pronunciations of the Turkish words. 
What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

it is good to see that someone has read my topic Big smile OK, I will try to explain much, but don't wait for anything about pronunciation. It is hard to explain them in English Confused Turkish pronunciation is easier than English. The video which is below, explains my comment well.

I forget English totally now and again has this reputation of being difficult because of letter and word sounds changing, Ollios. Will study the videos you've posted with much interest, than you.

The ever Beautiful Arabic Script of the Turkish Language  has gone since 1924 and being replaced by a multitude of more than 06 World languages , as such the present Turkish language is but " a spare part assembly " of World known Languages........

Arabic Script or Latin Script, what's the difference? In both case, orgin is none Turkic and Anatolian. Big smile 

However can't able to read many historical writing (not just books gravestones, writings on historical nice buildings) in your country is sad thing.

According to hearsays, Ataturk was effected from Itamar Ben-Avi. Itamar's son is telling that. Itamar was supporter of Latin scripts in Israel.

Brown = Kahverengi

              Kahve = Coffee  
              Renk   = Colour

              Coffee colour



I can't decide but it can be light salmon in english
 
Light salmon = Yavruağzı
 
          Yavru  = baby (for animals) - but I guess  it means baby bird for this example  

          Ağız     = mouth

Yavruağzı = the mouth of Baby bird
