We remember today people from 2000 years ago. People who did great things, thought great thoughts. It's very unlikely if you had asked someone 2000 years ago, who will people remember 2000 years in the future, they would have said the people we remember. They weren't the most famous people back then. Their acheivements were not necessarily considered the most famous.

So in this vein i ask the same question. From our time, 20th/21st century, who will people 2000 years in the future remember, who will be the household names? Will it be people we consider great today or people quite different? What acheivements will echo down the ages.

For example Yuri Gagarin the first man in space. Not so famous today but 2000 years in the future space travel will be more important, so the first man to do it will surely be remembered. The first man on the Moon is topped by the first man on Mars and he's topped by the first man on Titan and then the first man out of the Solarn System, but the first man in space!

So in this vein, who will be remembered and why?
