Topic: Genetic research Posted: 07-Apr-2009 at 17:33 |
I want to get my DNA researched for fun. But there are many companies and the prices vary too much. So does somebody recommend some company?

I would suggest National Geographics genographic project
https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/index.html
Generally if you want to do that you should consider to contact a reliable service that may cost a bit more. Otherwise there are thousands of companys that will make you whatever you wish in order to get your money.

Hmm, i haven't checked yet in detail. I will check it out and tell you. The best is to check your Y-chromosomes because they pass from father to child without being altered.

You're welcome! Good luck!
What do you suspect could be the results?

Khorasan, can you give us more? this was a major center of Iranian culture during the dark years of Arab rule.

Interresting...It seems Azerbaijan has a good ground for such research. Just out of curiosity, before you found this out what 1) did your family consider itself, 2) language do you speak at home?

Just turkish speaking Turk people. They considered themselves Turkmens before they found out about the family tree.

Which means though that it is determined by just one and one only of your ancestors in each generation. So the Y chromosome only reliably tells you about one of your 128 great-great-great-great-great-grandparents.
