Community Newsletter February 2009

Welcome to the year of the ox, everyone. A lot is happening around All Empires at present, and this newsletter aims to give you a brief overview of all that is going on in this wonderful community.

Commun
ity News

All Empires now boasts over 8300 members - a fantastic achievement for our 4 and a half year old community.

The All Empires Store is still around, but hasn't seen much activity lately. This initiative is a perfect opportunity for purchasing AE merchandise and clothing, such as the popular AE Mug! Items can even be personalised for each member - just contact Northman via PM.

Total Quiz is on the agenda, and we are looking for question writers and of course participants, as usual. Contact myself (Knights) or Northman if you intend on helping out in some way, or visit the Total Quiz Archive for an introduction to Total Quiz.

Forum Spotlight

This month I spoke to es_bih, about the Post Classical Middle East subforum. An expert in the area, es_bih provided an excellent overview to the topics, major contributors and themes of this particular subforum. Enjoy.

The Post-Classical Middle East Forum covers the period following the collapse of East Roman and Persian authority and the ascendancy of the Arab Caliphate in the Middle East (and elsewhere). This area of the All Empires Community covers a multitude of states that arose out of the movement of peoples and ideas that marked the late Antiquity period in the Middle East. Topics vary from historical perspectives of the Caliphate, to the history of the various Crusader states, and the various phases of the northern Armenian kingdom. The area has had a relative high amount of traffic throughout the years and has 14 pages worth of content. Some of the topics of interest are:

Al Jassas' - Byzantine resurgence

Moustafa Pasha's - Contributions of Islamic Knowledge to the World

Qutuz's - Abolition of Ottoman Caliphate
