No. They were forced to exile during the civil war, a period when events like kidnapping Greek children and sending them to communist countries, punishing villages for helping one or another side and massive executions happened. Sad? Yes. But also a lot of Greek collaborators were killed brutally and Greek communists as well. My family lost a great-grandfather (hanged by right-wing militants as communist) and a great-grandmother (heart attack when communist guerillas entered the village and executed  a few people, local priest among them). Hey, shit happens.

By the way during the German-italian-bulgarian occupation we had (3) three !!!!  goverments in Greece, one in Athens controlled by germans one in Egypt controlled by English and one in the mountains controlled by communists Noone of them decide the ethnic cleansing of chams . This was really very difficult period  because during the occupation died also about 300000 greeks (among them thousand children) from starvation .

As a matter of fact, I think that the Lebanon government asked EDES to cleanse the area from the Chams.

Defeat allows no explanation
Victory needs none.
It insults the dead when you treat life carelessly.

Well the answer is in the letter of Woodhouse  (from Akritas)

"Zervas encouraged by the allien mission under myself to chase them out  of their homes in 1944 in order to facilitate operations against the enemy."
